FAQ
Q: I am not confident in my drawing ability, or have never tried drawing before. Can I join these classes?
A: Absolutely yes! First and foremost, we believe everyone has the ability to draw, should they want to! However, if you’re a little nervous, many of our classes are part taught, providing different methods to approach drawing. We also have some drawing activities on our resources page that you can try at your own pace.
Q: How do I submit my work to be featured in a gallery?
A: Please follow this link to our upload form, and include your name and the date of the class you attended along with your image. We’ll do the behind the scenes magic and your image should be visible shortly afterwards.
Q: Are all of your classes online?
A: In an ideal world, no! However, due to the ongoing situation we have had to move our operations into the virtual world. This website is part of our aim to bring as much of the physical experience to you as we can... we really miss sharing the studio with you! We will do our best to organise more real-world classes as soon as it is safe to do so.
Q: Are the classes available to people outside of the RCA?
A: Currently our core classes are only available to those within the RCA community - this includes current students of all programmes, and members of staff. We will ocassionally host special public events and this will be clearly stated in the event description. We really hope to devise a public programme in the future, so watch this space!
Q: Why do I have to pay extra to join certain classes?
A: We currently charge for physical classes, or online classes where we work with a life model. This is to enable us to provide materials including paper, drawing boards, paint, charcoal, paintbrushes etc, as well as to pay our models and tutors for their fantastic work. We are an independent drawing class, provided for the RCA community, but not financially supported or academically regulated by the college itself. All the money we take for classes goes towards making the sessions a truly enriching and worthwhile experience for our students. We aim to make sure when we do charge that it is well below the average price of a drawing class in London, to make the classes as accessible as possible.
